Volunteer opportunities at the Heritage Centre

Please contact us if you would like to join our committed team of friendly volunteers at the Centre or to get further information on what is involved in being a Volunteer.

Volunteers in our galleries work three-hour shifts, either 10am-1pm or 1pm-4pm. Our visitors frequently remark on how friendly and helpful our volunteers staff are, so you would be joining a great team.  Check us out on TripAdvisor.

To find out more please phone us on 01628 780 555 and ask to speak to Flora Woodruff or get in touch by email at info@maidenheadheritage.org.uk.  Note: all public contact volunteers will need to have a DBS certificate.

Facilities Management Volunteer

We are looking for someone to manage the maintenance of our premises, carrying out necessary tasks around the building. If you have the practical skills it takes to do this role, we would like to hear from you.

Volunteer Coordinator

We are looking for a coordinator to manage our front of house volunteers and their rota and also to help train new recruits.  Good people skills and patience are essential.

Front of House Volunteers

Assist with the day-to-day running of the Heritage Centre, welcoming visitors, explaining what there is to see and processing shop sales and tickets.  You will need a friendly and engaging personality and to be reasonably fit and active. Prior knowledge of till systems and card machines is advantageous. In particular we are looking for volunteers willing to work on a Saturday from 10am-4pm.  Full training will be provided.

Grandma Flew Spitfires Stewards

If you have an interest in aviation and a willingness to engage with visitors and learn how to operate our Spitfire Simulator, why not apply to be one of our enthusiastic ATA stewards? Unlimited simulator flights are just one of the perks!  In particular we are looking for volunteers willing to work on a Saturday from 10am-4pm.

Family Events Volunteers

We would love to hear from volunteers who would like to help with the delivery of family activities in half-terms and the school holidays, ie craft days or story telling.  You need to enjoy working with young people! Experience working in a family friendly environment would be useful.

Marketing Volunteers

Would you like to help ‘sell’ Maidenhead Heritage Centre to a wider audience?  Your experience could help us use our limited marketing budget more effectively.

Curatorial Volunteers

Our Curator is looking for assistants to help with cataloguing the collection and carrying out regular collection audits. The oldest items in our collection are about 50,000 years old and you will get to “hold history in your hands” in this role.

Office Management Volunteers

We are looking for individuals to help with administrative tasks within our office. If you are computer literate, organised and efficient, we would love to hear from you.

Human Resources, Training and Personnel Development

If you have experience of working in HR or leading training courses and are looking to make a difference through volunteering, we would like to hear from you.
