Our next free family fun day will be on Wednesday 17th August, when you can drop in to the museum at 18 Park Street any time between 10.30am and 3.30pm. The link to our History of Skindles exhibition continues with the Royalty Chef! We have several historic menus on display in the exhibition, so this is a chance for youngsters to design their own delicious and decadent 1930s menu to serve to royalty, who were frequent visitors to Skindles Hotel, along with the film and pop stars of the day.
TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence
We are proud to have just been awarded a 2016 Certificate of Excellence by the popular TripAdvisor website. The glowing reviews the museum has received on TripAdvisor must be one reason why in the last 2 weeks of July we welcomed visitors from from Denver USA, South Africa, Poland, Spain, Denmark, Australia, Sweden, Canada and New Zealand. Not to mention couples who made special journeys from Leicester and Rutland to fly our fabulous Spitfire Simulator. Word is getting around – please tell your friends!
Family Fun Days
Our second FREE family fun day of the school holidays will be on Wednesday 10 August, when you can drop in at any time between 10.30am and 3.30pm. To chime with our Story of Skindles exhibition, youngsters will be able to get in the mood for messing about on or by the river by making a fashionable Boater hat, which of course they will be able to take away. We look forward to seeing you.

OUR MP THERESA MAY BECOMES PM
Congratulations from everyone at Maidenhead Heritage Centre to our MP Theresa May on becoming the UK’s second woman Prime Minister today, July 13th 2016. The new PM has been a long-standing supporter of Maidenhead Heritage Centre, and on a private visit with her husband Philip she flew our Spitfire simulator. She took off from White Waltham and then became the first Home Secretary to ‘land’ a Spitfire at Heathrow Airport. On our facebook page (click on the symbol at the bottom of this page) you will find film of her having a flying lesson from our Chairman Richard Poad. He commented on the ease and speed with which Theresa absorbed his instructions. “She has plenty of practice with all those red boxes which keep her up half the night!” said Richard. You too can have a Spitfire simulator flight – just phone 01628 780555 to make a booking.
